The flagship website for Carilion Clinic, a Roanoke-based health care organization with more than 500 physicians in a multi-speciality group practice and eight not-for-profit hospitals. Carilion Clinic specializes in patient-centered care, medical education and clinical research. We recently launched a new website for the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine (www.vtc.vt.edu), which welcomes its first class in 2010.

http://www.linkedin.com/in/mikedame - Before joining Carilion Clinic, I spent almost three years redeveloping the web presence for Virginia Tech. We won several regional and national awards, most notably for our web communications efforts in the wake of the April 16, 2007 tragedy on the Virginia Tech campus. The experience provided me 15+ minutes of fame as an in-demand speaker on crisis communications (see http://www.damecoinc.com/speaking-engagements/). I credit my experience as a breaking news journalist for allowing me to lead a calm, reasoned and thoughtful response to the tragedy. I'm also the co-chair for a Creative Class Group project in southwest Virginia, affiliated with Richard Florida, the internationally acclaimed economic development strategist and author of the recent book "Who's Your City?". Our project, CNR 2030 (www.CNR2030.org), has a stated goal of achieving carbon neutrality in the Roanoke and New River valleys by 2030.
